About Us
Fire & Life Safety Educators (FLSE) Committee
Educating. Connecting. Inspiring. Saving Lives.
The Fire & Life Safety Educators (FLSE) Committee is a dedicated group of fire and life safety professionals from fire departments and organizations throughout Illinois who share a common mission: to protect lives, safeguard property, and build safer communities through education.
The FLSE Committee brings together passionate educators to share ideas, develop innovative programs, and strengthen fire and life safety education across the state. Through collaboration and the exchange of resources, best practices, and creative approaches, the committee works to help educators reach people of all ages and backgrounds with important safety messages.
Committee members play an active role in organizing educational opportunities, training programs, conferences, and mini-seminars designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of Fire & Life Safety Educators. The committee meets monthly to plan the annual IFIA Fire & Life Safety Conference, develop mini-seminars on timely educational topics, and explore new and innovative ways to engage our communities.
From hands-on programming and classroom education to social media, emerging technology, and community outreach, the FLSE Committee is committed to keeping fire and life safety education fresh, relevant, engaging, and effective. Most importantly, we strive to share successful ideas and resources with Fire & Life Safety Educators across Illinois so that communities throughout the state can benefit.
Together, we are more than educators—we are advocates for prevention, champions for our communities, and partners in creating a safer Illinois.

Charge into Fire Safety!
Fire Prevention Week™ (FPW™) campaign, “Charge into Fire Safety™: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home,” does not have to be used just during October. It works to educate everyone about using these batteries safely all year round! The campaign stresses how important it is to BUY, CHARGE, and RECYCLE safely when it comes to lithium-ion batteries.
